Over the past number of decades schools and communities all across the Unites States have experienced significant changes to their demographic populations. With the increase in immigration and changes to educational law, classrooms have become ever more linguistically and culturally diverse. These changes can present major challenges for school staff members who are now required to have additional knowledge regarding linguistic characteristics of bilinguals and multicultural differences.
All About Bilinguals is focused on today's challenges for Speech-Language Pathologists and other professionals servicing multilingual and multicultural populations in the school setting with the goal of developing a better understanding of the typical verbal skills (language difference) versus a compromised language system (language disorder) through comprehensive formal and informal evaluations.
Having more than 30 years of experience in working with multilingual populations of all ages, All About Bilinguals is looking to promote comprehensive linguistic analysis of the verbal skills beyond the scores and possible implications for the student's academic performance. All About Bilinguals also provides consultation to parents, teachers and multi-disciplinary teams working with multi-linguistic and multicultural populations. The main mission of our work is to support school teachers and SLPs in developing appropriate approaches that help students grow and succeed within their linguistic abilities.
