Hello and welcome. My name is Danaee Donovan. I am the founder and owner of All About Bilinguals. I am originally from Venezuela where I earned my initial academic degrees and worked as speech and language therapist privately and in school settings as well as being an adjunct professor, clinical supervisor and rehabilitation department coordinator.
In 1993 I came to the United States by invitation to join a medical team in Massachusetts serving the needs of Spanish and Portuguese speaking children and families. I settled in Greater Boston close to my work and found New England to be a place I would like to call home.
I continued on with my professional pursuits when in 1995 I enjoyed participating in the first Early Intervention Team at Children's Hospital Boston where I worked as Early Intervention Specialist, case manager coordinator, clinical supervisor and trainer for Boston Combined Residency Program on Pediatrics. As time passed I transitioned to the public elementary and pre-school environments where I assessed and treated a multilingual population including speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, and Indian languages.
I was very fortunate to continue with my academic achievements while living here participating at Worcester State University, Harvard University and earning a Master degree in Special Education at the American International College and a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathologist at the University of Massachusetts.
Currently I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and I am licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of California. I am also licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Specialist Teacher in the areas of Speech-Language and Hearing Disorders and as a Speech and Language Therapist at the Colegio Venezolano de Fonoaudiólogos, Audiólogos y Terapistas del Lenguaje (FONATEL).
With my over 30 years of experience in speech language pathology and my extensive experience working within bilingual/monolingual pediatric populations in the school setting, I have expert knowledge of speech and language development in bilingual children along with extensive clinical experience working on multidisciplinary teams and counseling clients and families in those same arenas.
In addition to my clinical experience, I have had the opportunity to collaborate on research projects related to bilingual language development and disorders. I actively participated in researches focused on Bilingual language development Spanish-English and Vietnamese-English while at the University of Massachusetts resulting in several presentations at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Conventions where I was delighted to participate. Currently I am a affiliated with the San Diego State University Research Foundation.
I am extremely enthusiastic about my profession at all levels as well as teaching and training graduate students within academia.
